The
Black Crowes are leaving the nest for a break.
The band's
official website (blackcrowes.com)
posted a statement Wednesday stating that the group is "taking a hiatus."
Singer Chris Robinson is "pursuing a solo career," while drummer Steve Gorman
has left the band for "personal reasons," the posting said.
Guitarist Rich Robinson will be announcing his own plans soon, the message
said. Music industry gossip has it that Rich Robinson is planning a new
project with Spacehog's Royston Langdon.
While the group was officially describing it as a break, The New York Post
declared that the group had in fact split for good, and laid the blame at the
feet of Chris Robinson's wife, "Almost Famous" star Kate Hudson.
"Ever since Chris married Kate, the whole band dynamic has changed. He's just
not around the guys the way he used to be," the paper quoted a source close to
the band.
The band's publicist also told The Post there's no truth to rumours that the
singer broke up the band via fax, and had labelled their recent music
"irrelevant." In fact, the brothers spent the Christmas season together in
Aspen, The Post said.
