Down the line from New York yesterday, Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson said his wife, Oscar-nominee Kate Hudson, is having a good week leading up to Sunday night's awards.

They were scheduled to attend a premiere of her new film, About Adam, last night in New York, and then head back to L.A.

"It's definitely exciting. She's definitely revved up but she's cool about it. She's like the most incredibly even-keeled person in the world."

Robinson also said Hudson isn't that freaked out about competing against her Almost Famous co-star Frances McDormand in the best supporting actress category.

"It's not like they're going head to head. It's people voting -- and they're like the best of friends. As much as they both want to win, themselves, I think they would probably be happy for each other."

Robinson's May 22 date at the Molson Amphitheatre with Oasis and Spacehog is the only Canadian date of the upcoming Brotherly Love tour.

It kicks off May 11 in Las Vegas, three days after the release of the Crowes' new album, Lions. The band had hoped for another city.

"We wanted to start the tour in Philadelphia, which is the City of Brotherly Love, but we couldn't hook it up in time," Robinson said.

Following that road trip, the Crowes head over to Europe to open for Neil Young and Crazy Horse.

"I guess Neil's starting his tour there and asked us to come along, which of course -- travel through Europe and play with Neil Young every night -- we'll do that."
