The Black
Crowes say an insurance company has left them in the red over the
cancellation of last year's tour with Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page.
The Livedaily.com website reports the band is suing Lloyd's Of London
claiming the insurer failed to pay up after a back injury sidelined Page
and forced the cancellation of the group's planned tour with the legendary
guitar-slinger.
"Before they embarked on last year's tour together, Jimmy Page and the
Black Crowes purchased a policy from Lloyd's insuring against loss in the
event that any portion of the concert tour was canceled," the Crowes'
publicist said in a statement issued to Livedaily.com.
The lawsuit, which was filed Wednesday in Los Angeles, accuses the insurer
of breach of contract and bad faith for refusing to honor the agreement
and seeks both punitive and compensatory damages, according to the
statement.
Lloyd's told Livedaily.com they had no knowledge of the lawsuit.
