WARPAINT

The Black Crowes Release First Album In Seven Years.

After 7 long years, on March 4th The Black Crowes released WARPAINT, their first album of all-new studio material on their own Silver Arrow Records.

Produced and mixed by Paul Stacey at Allaire Studios, Woodstock, NY, the album features 11 songs, all of which were written by Chris and Rich Robinson, except “God’s Got It” by the Reverend Charlie Jackson. The album builds compellingly on the band’s trademark adventurous brew of rock, blues, country, soul and gospel.

WARPAINT marks the recording debut of two new band members—guitarist Luther Dickinson and keyboardist Adam MacDougall--who join Chris and Rich and drummer Steve Gorman and bassist Sven Pipien. Dickinson, of North Mississippi Allstars, officially steps in to replace producer/guitarist Paul Stacey, whose position with the band was always intended to be temporary. The Black Crowes are deeply appreciative that Stacey committed his genuine talent and time to the band and their performances for most of 2007.

From the beginning, when they roared out of the gate with their multi-platinum debut album "Shake Your Moneymaker" in 1990, The Black Crowes have played by their own rules, pissed off detractors and formed an intimate connection with their audience, while maintaining their independence and creative freedom from standard industry practices. Their mission: to create rock and roll that is fierce and genuine, with a sound that didn’t conform to easy categorization. You could hear it in their six studio albums and in their panoramic live shows. As the band racked up worldwide album sales exceeding 15 million, the band performed over 2000 shows between 1990 and 2001. Their gigs became legendary for set lists which changed every night and signature incendiary musical explorations. The Black Crowes are one of the few contemporary bands who have also shared the stage with Jimmy Page, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, AC/DC, The Who, Neil Young, The Grateful Dead and many other legendary artists.

The Black Crowes will begin their world tour March 24 by headlining the Byron Bay Festival in Australia. They’ll continue their down under trek—their first since 1991—through April 5 before playing special engagements in Tokyo, Amsterdam and London, and concluding with shows in Hamburg and Cologne, Germany (dates TBA).
